The Doctor is In...

Over the weekend of June 12th through the 13th we at PeachParts were fortunate enough to be able to watch, cheer, and support one of our Shop Forum Moderators in his racing efforts. M.B.DOC races his 1989 model year 190E 2.3 8v in SCCA ITS competition. For a recap and details of the weekend, read on.

The garden variety 190E 2.3 is stripped of everything including some of the bare essentials. A roll cage is then added along with a fuel cell. Note the fire extinguisher lashed to the rollbar. Weight is pared down to approximately 2700lbs with the driver and fuel. By staying close to SCCA specified minimum weight the engine, brakes, and suspension's attributes are maximized.

Without giving away all the secrets I can tell you a few things about the setup: custom fabricated 4.08:1 rear axle ratio, 5-speed manual transmission, 1000lb front springs, 600lb rear springs, around 3 degrees of negative camber front and rear, open exhaust, stock compression running on 109 octane racing fuel, blueprinted engine, Hoosier racing slicks, specially valved Bilstein shocks, 500SL anti-sway bar, and about a 7500rpm rev limit.

Our speedy moderator started 20th out of 62 total in the field, and finished 15th which was 10th in his respective class. Congratulations M.B.DOC!
