Yeah, the guitar picks are wood.
I only use one wood... Lignum Vitae.
It's pretty amazing that a 1mm sliver of wood
can take prolonged pounding against steel.
On the Mohs hardness scale,
which is measured by pressing a 1/2" stainless steel ball
exactly halfway, into the side of a plank....
Lignum Vitae requires 4500 pounds.
Oak and Teak rate about 1000.
I've also been messing with something called Cumaru,
that is 3500. ( also known as Brazilian Teak )
I've been making bigger stuff with it, because I got 3000 pounds.
It is brutal tough.
I've thought of a Lignum Vitae electric guitar.
It would probably weigh 30 pounds... but I'll bet it would sustain forever.
I may try something like that with the Cumaru, since I have so much more of it.
I'm thinking of a one piece neck and body.
I wouldn't even have a fretboard on the neck,
I'd polish the Cumaru instead and possibly make it fretless?
