After researching a bit, I found a suggestion in another MB forum to use a solution of Woolite and water to clean then Griot's Leather Care to protect. I've done this twice and am very pleased with the results on my java "coated" leather.

It may take a few applications. It's done the process on my seats a few times, about 3 and recently noticed the difference, exspecially on my driver's seat.
