Absolutely not - this diffference may even be due to rounding when converting inches to mm. In my case I got a 2mm longer belt, there was no problem at all. Yes, it is a cheap and straightforward repair - the hardest part may be figuring out the correct belt size... Fortunately for the M103 engine other forum members kindlly have posted the correct size before.
