You have a great car but you'll soon find what a joy it is to clean the air filter

My friend helped me clean my air filter at his shop, where he could use an industrial-size solvent tank. It was a messy job. I can't remember what he used in the solvent tank. You remove the whole air cleaner, drain the container the element sits in, & get nasty black oil everywhere. Once it and the element were completely clean & dry, I just put the element back and added motor oil to the "full" mark (you don't fill it completely) and put everything back in the car (also a bit tricky with the clamps).

ATF -I don't know as I have a manual transmission. With my other car
(which is an automatic but not a Mercedes), it needs to be running while checking the fluid.

I don't know what to say about the alternator arrangement you have, either, as it obviously was modified; mine is stock but the AC bracket is a nightmare to put on and off...maybe that's why yours was removed.
