I'm hoping you mean white vapour (dissapetes immediately) as white smoke isn't normal , -EVER- , it indicates oil burning .

I dunno what your routine driving is nor oil change intervals but they shouldn't be over 3,000 miles and less in winter when short hop driving causes lots of water to condense into the oil , always do them engine _HOT_ ~ very important .

My old '78 air filter was just wet with oil , so much so I had to remove the entire housing and de-grease it . after a few oil changes and etc. it no longer pukes oil out the breather...
