Yes, a bearing can squeal and make other noises under the hood.

WD-40, or any other lube, may quiet the bearing for a while, but the noise usually comes back.

Or, the bearing might fail without making any further noise, except one final screech over the pulley that is no longer turning before it disintegrates...

Remove the belt(s) and try turning everything by hand, see what's binding.
