20 years ago, I delivered pizza in a Saab 99ems (roughly the equivalent of a 320i or 280e). One morning, about 3am, I was driving home down a deserted street when 4-5 teens up ahead wanted me to stop. They fanned out across the road to block me. My reflex reaction surprised me, I immediately flicked it into 2nd and floored it. When I got to them, I was doing about 80 in third, and they were not on the road.

I still wonder to this day if they needed help, or if I would have needed help if I'd stopped.

In regards to mobs, I remember a situation in which a MSU block party turned into a mob scene in 1986. Some guy went into the area, trying to get home. He started honking and yelling, trying to shove the crowd with his new Trans Am. The car got flipped and burned, the driver escaped. If you let 20 guys grab your car, you've had it.
