The most trouble free Benz I've owned was a 1983 240D with manual gearbox.

I think most all models have certain areas where things will break and wear out. Having said that I think the 124 chasiss 1992 300 E cars are very solid cars that will last a long time so long as they are maintained. I have two 92's, one an E the other a TE.

The 123 chassis cars, which I have owned and driven for many years, are probably more reliable than the 124 300 gas and diesel models but they are not as comfortable to ride in or drive and they do not handle as well as the 124's.
