Originally the sensor was a temp sensor and screwed into the metal near the sight glass. These sensors had no pigtails and were not screwed into the pressurized chamber as they went for heat.

The newer sensor uses pressure as it is quicker to register and is a straight relationship with temp. This sensor with pigtails screws into the pressurized chamber obviously and the two sensors can not be interchanged. The proper one must be used with the drier that you have. MB has not made driers with the old style sensor in many years, but aftermarket driers sometimes still use the old sensor as they are trying to copy a particular aplication.
