The idle adjustment screw is located just in front of the air cleaner, slightly off from center to the driver's side of the car. It's a screw that uses a flat blade srewdriver, probably 3/4" in diameter. Clockwise slows the engine down and visa-versa. That engine should idle 800rpm out of gear, 550-600 in gear. That engine has an additional air valve (located next to the idle screw) that is used for fast idle when the engine is cold. You may have a stuck additional air valve.
Congrats! on getting "her" up and running.
