i have seen some people install the copper colored seal washers under the alda, this has a the same effect as adjusting it does,doing this leaves the plastic seal cap intact, once the washer is inserted the alda is no longer adjustable until the washer is removed, and the slotted area will break if you try to turn it.
not saying 100% that is what you have, but it is just a thought
