I only was addressing specific information. The original question didn't involve a specific answer, so I didn't answer it. The specific reply that a "82" 300D had a 722.1 trans WAS a specific answer and WAS wrong, atleast for uS models. So I corrected the answer. There was no US non turbo 300D made in 82. In Europe the only turbos occured on station wagons up to some point after 82. Unless one is adding addendums, most consider sales designations to be US or if including euro models one should then make the statement correct. The only way the statement was correct originally is to exclude US models.

The original post asked a question in a way it can't be specifically answered. I could make a case that any trans could be installed in any car, how much money do you have. The case for the diesel and the gas are the same 124 270 64 11 so they will bolt up. The convertors as stated are different, so are the VBs. Could they be used? there isn't an exact answer.
