But Tom, I believe he said that engine was getting crappy mileage in both the TD and in the 240. Lance's TD should have had a 3.07 in it.
For the record, the best economy I've ever achieved from my wagon (617.952 w/4-spd manual and 3.07 final drive) was 28.9mpg and it's more often in the 25s. My 300D (617.952 with auto and 2.88s) routinely gets 26 to 27 town/hwy mix.
