Old dog with a dry nose?

Hello, my dogs nose has been dry for a long time. Its OK during the summer, but gets really bad during the winter... It looks pretty painfull sometimes, but he doesnt do much about it.

Hes a 13 year old brittany spaniel, and hes a former hunting dog... My dad took him hunting when he was younger, but after he passed away, nobody took him hunting. He does love running around up at the cabin, but hes sore for about 4 days afterwords...

Anyways his nose gets a bit wetter after we go for a walk, but that means hes out of luck for the cold season.

Right now im putting some hand cream on his nose. I rub it in (which he doesnt like), and the give him a treat so he doenst lick it off his nose.
Its marykay stuff, because thats what my mom sells.

Is there anything else I can do for him? I love him to death, hes my buddy...
I know that sounds stupid, but I just cant stand his nose anymore. It looks really painfull, so I'll keep putting the hand cream on it twice a day.

Thanks alot, I appreciate it
~Nate
