Even most Whole Foods water for the 1.5 liter is $1.50 or less -- their own brand is about $.69 for a 1.5L. Best deal I've found is at Trader Joe's. About $.49 for the 1.5.

I usually refill the bottles at one of those coke machine looking water purifiers: $.30 a gallon; one gallon will fill 2 and 1/2 of the 1.5 L bottles. I could just fill 5 gallon jugs, which I do, bit I like having the smaller bottles in my work rig -- can't stand the chlorine taste in city water.
