Question Sorry to bring this up, again...

I was using the SEARCH function and found this posting. I recently purchased a 1987 420SEL with a transmission that has been recently rebuilt. All the charts show a different model for the '86-88 cars as being a 722.324, whereas my '91 420SEL shows as having a 722.355. Both indicate a 2nd gear start, etc.

Are these just a matter of modulator pressure vs. being really different (OK, non-swapable) transmissions?

In a nutshell, can one safely replace a 722.355 with a 722.324, or can it be modified to work properly?
