If the car is running rich, you may find that there could be a lot of gas in the oil. This will make the car run like crap until you drain the oil and refill.

More importantly you need to determine why it's running rich. As I understand it (Tomguy may confirm), the computer controls the idle and the map sensor controls the running mixture.
