5 speed driveshaft vibration question

I had my 300e 5 speed in the shop for flex disk repairs. The mechanic said that a vibration dampner on the driveshaft was broken. It was a rubber and steel ring on the shaft that only the manual transmission cars have. The part is not available separately; it only comes with a new driveshaft. Since the new flex disks were installed, I notice a vibration at various speeds in 1st or 2nd gear, no others. I have a driveshaft center support bearing that I can install, but I'm wondering how important the driveshaft dampner is. Should I check the costs of a driveshaft? I don't think that I could ever find a used one due to the rarity of my car.
