Pretty easy to do. Nothing special is needed to swap it.

What steps have you taken to make sure it's the turbo? Does it spin freely? Is there any in/out or up/down shaft play? Lots of oil in the intake and/or exhaust?

Turbo's rarely fail. Most of the time it's related to fuel filters and broken/clogged air lines to the ALDA.
