The obvious question is, whats wrong with the '78 that you wouldn't choose to fix it and part out the '72, other than the SLC is not a drop-head? The fuel injection, on Federal Cars anyway, is quit a bit different on the two cars you are comparing. This will probably mean the wiring will be different as well. Anything can be done... its just a matter of money. Have a look-see at the engine offered by the second poser of this thread. There may be your best answer.
