83 to 85hp sounds about right. Hey, I drive a '77 240D automatic. If you need the extra oomph to start out with these cars, you hit the throttle to the floor and they will start out in first instead of second. You can also manualy select first. You know.... I don't give a rats a$$ about anyone trying to push me faster. I just drive at the capabilities of the car and keep me and my family safe. A 300 non-turbo wagon should do fine on the freeway at speeds.
