I just picked my car up from my (new) independant this morning. i would really tell anyone who hasn't changed theirs after 100000 now is a good time. better safe than sorry for the cost of parts. My 94 c280 tumbler froze and I could not turn the key (even using something to try to vibrate the tumblers free). My mechanic had a lot of extra work to extract the key/tumbler. after the 51 dollar towing bill for a 4 mile tow the, parts and labor came out to 508.06 . I'll bet if i check just the parts alone (it sounds like something I could have done myself if I could have gotten the key to the "1" position the cost would have been under 100.

(just for good measure, I am going to check how much the parts are from the stealer to see how bad the independant got me. my change to another inde!

maybe someone here knows how much the parts should be... tumbler was 107 steering lock was 99 and lock cover was 15. labor was 264.
