3000ft should not affect engine performance.

My engine only starts to feel the effects of thinner air/altitude around ~9,000ft altitude. Around the 9500 mark it starts to smoke an misfire pretty bad. 10,000+ and it barely idles. I take it up pikes peak every so often and it will make it's own white/grey/black cloud above 13,000ft.
