240D heater valve removal

I cannot figure out how to get the 2 cables off of the valve arms on the heater valve assembly located on firewall. I pried a little, but didn't want to break off the ball-tips on the arms.
The two cables go into the firewall through protrusions that appear to be snap-ringed in place.
How does it come off?

**edit**
To clarify, I can get the valve off just fine, that was easy. I can't get the cables off, and that is my question....
