I had a new seal installed on one of my W123s today. The glass man told me that this type of seal is allows a bit of water past even when new, however there are drains under the seal area to channel the water away and prevent leaks. He said that in my car there was only a drain on the left side, while in other cars there is a drain on both sides. Could this be the cause of the leaks that are typically found in these cars?

The glass man installed sealant in addition to the new seal to prevent future leaks.
