The timing chain I believe is the only problem with the 602, and the problem is much less widespread than the cracked heads on the 603. It's a real good engine. I've seen plenty of members or other people who have 300k+ on the 602. I've never had an engine related problem on my 602, it just keeps clacking the miles away.

You still do have to watch the temp though, it still has the same kind of alloy head as the 603, and is prone to warpage if severely overheated due to the different thermal expansion rates of iron and aluminum. Not as bulletproof as the 617, but much more refined and fuel efficient.
