I had a water leak in my '84 300D on the front drivers side. I dried it out best I could, used dehumidifier, etc. Leak was fixed, three months later when I pushed on the sound deadener water squeezed out. I ended up using a heatgun and a plastic scraper to remove all the factory sound deadener. I then replaced the factory deadener with Dynamat. The factory deadener is some sort of asphalt material that has a layer of foam between it and the metal floor. Consequently the foam absorbs water and is difficult to remove. The Dynamat adheres directly to the metal so no water will get under it if the leak reoccurs. RT
