I think we posted at about the same time, I hadn't seen your posting on the circuit board when i wrote my response (7:42 vs 7:47!) . On some cars it is as simple as a resistor/capacitor assembly, making it an easy fix. I am not familiar with the w210 - they may have added a timer IC or some such to make sure it delayed to the microsecond . When my wife gets home i can look in our 98 C230 and see what looks promising!
