If in pristine condition, these can go for $8-$10k. $5-6k would be the low end, cheaper if things are broken. I saw one for sale in CA recently with 130kmi, asking $9500. Maybe on the East coast with rust etc the values are lower. Be careful when buying, make sure it runs properly. I have driven about a dozen different 87's and many run like crap. It could be a fix as simple as cleaning the boost line to the ALDA, or it could be a shot injection pump.
The car should NOT be slow, it should move off the line quickly and really pick up when the turbo spools up. Factory spec was ~11 seconds 0-60, and in general you should get at least 13 seconds. Any slower than about 14-15 seconds and there is defintely something wrong. Then the trick is to figure out what, and how much it will cost.
Other items to look at on older W124's are the cruise control (amp often fails, $150 for a rebuilt), climate control not working properly (the air flap vacuum elements are notorious for failing, and 4 of the 6 require dash removal which is a 5-10 hour job), sunroof operation (can be VERY expensive to fix, $1000+), A/C operation, oil leaks, worn suspension bushings & steering linkages, etc.
Have fun!
