Lacking a new CEL since you cleared them, it sounds like you have a fuel/air leak and are losing your prime.

The CDI's rely on o-ring seals on fuel lines and filter. Check for fuel leaks.

Try parking nose downhill and see if starts easier and/or helps to find the leak.

Posting the codes helps narrow the problem down.
