hi, I had the same problemon my 82SD. whats happening is the cable is backing out of the end of the seat track. If you remove the cable ,you will see inside there is a cable like a speedometer cable. The end is squared to fit into the motor, and the other end fits in the slider mechanism. What I did was to pinch the ends so they weren't a perect square anymore and forced the end into the seat reciever end. This prevented it from backing out again. Hope that makes sense. I unbolted the seat and just let it lay back. I didn't remove it from the car. HTH MIKE
