I do as well. But not in something that takes me to work and back, and has so many confounded variables constantly running parity checks against one another on a car supporting 100's of different subsystems (keep it one-box...PLEASE?).
One can fix a broken wire by clipping, stripping, twisting and taping. Not so on aged exposed microchips which are also unique to a particular application.
