Talk to RedLine, they've been telling me for 8 years that there is no longer a difference, just the label and name.

The 85+ was originally formulated to be compatible with the trap-ox equipped Mercedes diesels. Somewhere in the early '90s they dropped the second formula, and made both products the same, both compatible with the trap-ox. I usually buy their products direct, cases at a time, my CAT takes several gallons per oil change, so I've developed a relationship with the management/founders over the years, feel that this is accurate information.

They keep selling the 85+ label according to my sources because some Mercedes people don't know that the catalyst product is compatible.

The Catalyst works way better, but will kill trap-Ox and catalytic converters (if present), thus the 85 version strips out a couple chemicals.
