Going from "running fine" to gagging and spitting, then quitting in fifteen minutes doesn't sound like sparkplugs to me.
The first thing I'd hope for is that a critical vacuum hose either broke or got pulled off its nipple. Did any of the warning lights go on? Does it have spark when it turns over? Does it have fuel? Eliminate the cheap things first.
