I had a busy week at the office and couldn't spend any time reading threads. A chord was struck in me, reading that speech. I was in my formative years politically in the late 60s and 70s and when thinking back on that time, I am amazed by some stuff being said by and about some of our politicians today.

We should want our leaders to be able to see the big picture, whatever it might be, and Nixon did. But he also had on a seriously huge set of blinders at the same time, causing his biggest blunders. Lessons for today? Yes. The greater meaning of it all? I'll let you know in 50 years.
