The red tabs push in, should feel springy, try putting some weight on the seat with one hand as you push in the tab with the other hand. I had one that was bent, needed some persuading, if you push them to either side then they can hang-up on the clip and not push in. You should feel the tabs push in about 1/2" (in = towards rear of car).
