I can speak from my own imperical experience on my '98 which developed DV leaks about a month after I started using ULSD.
Firstly, the replacement parts DO show up in my version of the EPC and are listed as A0179974148 for the o-rings and A0049974540 for the crush washers for the 606.962 engines. So I believe MB intended them to be servicable. Most parts people can't find them because they are buried on Page 2 of the diagram pages so they don't see the right picture.
When I replaced delivery valve seals back in December I used OEM o-rings and copper crush washers and they appeared to be identical to what had been on the pump to start with. I used the 30-30-35 procedure for torquing down the valve bodies but I'd bet using just 30 straight would be fine too.
In fact, using 30 once would reduce the likelyhood of tearing the o-ring it it was not sufficiently lubed prior to being installed. I dunked my valve bodies in fresh fuel right before I screwed them in so they were soaked and well lubed and saw no evidence of any tearing or snagging when I loosened and tightened them.
So far, so good...4 months and no leaks.
