300CD rear window issues

I just bought a 300CD. Got a good deal but the previous owner seriously neglected the interior. I stripped out the interior and cleaned it. Now I'm getting all the windows working. So, here's my question:

the rear windows don't want to slide smoothly in their track. I've lubricated them and attached the motors but just when I think everthing is working right and I want to put the panels back on, the window sticks, the motor keeps pushing and the pin holding the two together pops off. It seems that both windows are getting caught at the same place; the side closest to the door. I imagine this is a common problem. If anyone has done this before or can lead me to previous discussions of it I would appreciate it very much.

Also, when I do roll the rear windows down they stop about 3 or 4 inches before being completely down. I've seen photos of this car with the windows all the way down. I really like the postless look of the CD. Any comments on that?
Thanks
