my 85 had the problem when I bought it 10 yrs ago. the roof, hood,
and front fenders. I think it had a little fender bender some time in it`s
former life, and had just enough paint to get it out of the bodyshop. this
is on the front end. so I tell the wife no problem, I can paint that. so
I do the top and rear quarter panels. took out the windows (front/back)
sun roof, deck lid, rear lights etc... get it all painted new gaskets. $1200.00 later, all done. not too bad for never painted silver metalic, &
clear coat.
now 9 yrs later, same thing again. can`t win with this stuff.
300SD same thing, pealing all over. didn`t help covering with a tarp all
winter. moisture get under the clear coat.
I think a solid color and just wax it once in a while is better.
From the pictures, your cars look pretty good. less time than painting.
