I must hit about 20-30 BIG bugs every time I go on the freeway for an hour. All with slimy nastyness that smears all over the window, even with my mega strong "bug guts dissolving" wiper fluid.
Bugs seem to overcome the air stream with their mass, and go straight into the windshield while the air goes up and over, probably because the windshield on our cars is fairly steep.
I hit a cardinal once too....it flew down over the road when I was going 55mph....it hit the front of the hood on the corner above one of the lights at top speed, proceeded to slide along the airstream of the car, smacked the pillar, went over the roof and down on the road. It was probably dead on impact, it got blood on the hood and pillar...
