AT Cooling Line

The car is a ’92 201/2.3

I have an issue with a new flexible automatic transmission cooling hose that goes from the tranny to the radiator (sort of like the one in the image). First off, it’s been sitting in my parts bin in my shop for a couple of years, so it’s too late to return it. When I went to install it this weekend, I realized that it’s supposed to have a 90-degree bend at the radiator end – the line I have does not. I’ve searched locally for an adapter, but no luck.

So here’s my question: Aren’t these AT cooling lines low-pressure? The connections appear to be high pressure connections, but that seems extraordinarily over-engineered if they are low-pressure lines. Would it be crazy to simply cut the line and use a brass barb connection?

BTW, the correct part is no longer available through Fastlane.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
