I replaced my original fuel filter on my 95C280 (same M104 motor) at 80k miles. THe filter was fairly clogged. I'd imagine though you'd be fine until 90k miles.... and if it needs changing before hand, then it needs changing.
Mercedes-Benz recommends fuel filter replacement for gas motors at 60k miles, but it is not a requirement. They make that relatively clear in the maintenance manual.
Good luck in whatever you do.
