From my understanding of cell phones (which is just about enough to get me in trouble) it shouldn't matter to the service provider that you have an analog phone. I think what the service provider people meant is that they don't have analog PLANS anymore. You may have to sign on to a digital plan, even though you have an analog only phone. The analog will still work as long as you have reception to an analog tower. I don't know how the towers work, if all towers should be capable of picking up all 3 types of signals or how that all works.
