Also, today when changing my oil, I had a novel idea. So my car has this pesky oil leak (some of which is a leaky head gasket) that is too complicated and expensive to troubleshoot/fix. My dad is always yelling at me for leaving the car in the driveway because in any given 24 hours, the car will leave an inch diameter puddle of cement-staining oil. So today, while changing my oil, it occurred to me: Why not line the drip pan that sits below the sump with cat litter? I mean, the oil drips down from the engine into the pan, and then onto the ground, so if there was a barrier of cat litter set up along the perimeter of the pan, then the oil would be absorbed before it could leak out! I'm not sure how well its working, but I'll report back.
