Since my 84' 190D (AT) differential is so noisy and it's somewhat of a beater, I've been looking for a cheap replacement differential to swap to no avail.

Has anyone tried or thought of taking a different chassis differential with a similar gear ratio and "retrofitted" it in successfully? I see a cheap W123 differential for auction that's near me and I'm brainstorming...
