240D ip timing question
I am trying to get a 240D started. I bought it for the rebuilt engine and ip. IP was already installed when I bought it. The car had never been started since the installation. I am checking the timing. If I set it at 24 btc and pump the handpump, I get NOTHING. If I set it at TDC, I get a steady flow as long as I pump. I am using a homemade drip tube made from another injector line. I followed the Haynes book directions of removing the vane and spring from the ip before I installed the drip tube. I have been reluctant to pull the ip and check the timing without checking with ya'll first. Now don't laugh but if I am turning the engine clockwise with my a wrench, the numbers to the right of the 0 degree mark are btdc, correct?
Does this sound like the ip was not correctly installed?
Thanks!
