That's way too much trouble. You can bump the engine for a long time before the plug stops in the right place. Just turn the crankshaft (in the normal direction of rotation) with a ratchet wrench on the balancer bolt. Much faster. Use a mirror if you are working solo. You can also turn the flywheel with a large screwdriver.
