Thank you for the welcome. I have already used the search function re wiring harness and indeed already sent a request for parts from the partshop on this site.

$1,240 for a silly wiring harness!! OMG can't regular C280 wiring harnesses be used for the C36? Is this the one connected to the thermostat housing? Is this the only one that needs to be replaced?

Unfortunately the car is in the Philippines and thus no 'goodwill assistance' is available although the car only has 18,000 kilometers (11k miles) although I dare say that this is obviously a factory defect and should be covered by MB. I am in the electrical field and I have never seen insulation as deteriorated as this. Wonder what compound they used for this, flour maybe?
