Unlike spark plugs, it depends on how things are done. Some have GPs that heat up and continue to heat up for a bit after starting. IIRC, older diesels don't do that. Also it would depend on how you run the car. If you run it for 24 hrs at a time, you might not burn out the plugs as often as if you run it "start-stop" all day long.
